Active School
2022/2023
Active School Flag Initiative:
The Active School Flag (ASF) is awarded to those schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. The process aims to get more schools more active more often.
Schools wishing to achieve the ASF begin the process by self-evaluating their current provision across 3 areas: Physical Education, Physical Activity and Partnerships. Schools must also organise an Active School Week programme and commit to having it as part of their annual school calendar. Schools that can say ‘yes’ to all of the ASF success criteria will be awarded with the active flag.
2022/2023 School Year - Time for Active School Flag Renewal in St Anne’s!
We got our first Active Schools Flag in 2019 and now it is time to start working on the renewal of the Active Schools Flag
Our new active school committee is busy planning lots of ways to keep the pupils and staff healthy.
- We are in our third week of the Active Movement Break Challenge. Each class had at least one additional movement break per day and we encourage movement breaks between lessons to reduce sedentary time.
- The children have Active homework on P.E days and we encourage 60 minutes of exercise every day.
The 2022/2023 Committee includes pupil representatives from the Senior end of the school 3rd -6th Class. Leon, Lily, Alex Mae, Andrew, Chloe, Aodhan, Darragh, Elizabeth, Rory and Hana
Our sixth Class are participating as playground leaders in the Junior yard twice a week where they show the children how to take part in playground games .

We have recently been awarded with our Active School Flag Award.
We had great fun inside and outside getting active for this award. We did all sorts of activities from running, skipping, yoga, free dance Friday, gymnastics, rugby, football, hurling, camoige, and lots more.
