Distance Learning
I hope you and your family are keeping well and adjusting to these sudden and unforeseen changes to our way of living. Here in St. Anne’s NS we begin a new week of distance learning. Naturally, there will be a period of getting used to it and teasing out its potential but it appears we have made a good start. Although distance learning is not something any of us saw on the horizon when you enrolled in St. Anne’s NS, it is a good way to keep the school link open under the ‘Stay Home’ order. We adopted this model when faced with the challenge of the sudden school closure and I encourage you to engage with it and to reap the benefits that are to be gained from it. We are excited about it and I have to say we were especially excited to hear from our students during last week.
Active Home Week
An ancient philosopher once said,
”You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.”
This year Active Schools Week has become Active Home Week. Now, more than ever we need to promote physical activity for its benefits to the body and especially to the mind. The Active School Committee had quite a week planned for this week but we will be able to call on the various coaches, instructors etc. at a future time.
This year we are asking the children to actively play for an hour each day.
This can be divided into different time periods such as 4x15 minutes if that is easier.
Teachers will suggest ideas but your own ideas for your own circumstances are best.
Because it’s such an unusual year and we haven’t seen each other in a while, we ask you to email us the photographs you like best of Active Home Week for our website. I think we could build up an excellent Active Home Week Photograph Album of your Dances, Games, Fun relays (remember the bucket filling?), throwing activities (targets etc.), Animal walks, rolls, obstacle courses etc.
Have a great week and remember to Email your photos to office@stannesns.ie
