Active School Flag Initiative:

The Active School Flag (ASF) is awarded to those schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. The process aims to get more schools more active more often.

Schools wishing to achieve the ASF begin the process by self-evaluating their current provision across 3 areas: Physical Education, Physical Activity and Partnerships. Schools must also organise an Active School Week programme and commit to having it as part of their annual school calendar. Schools that can say ‘yes’ to all of the ASF success criteria will be awarded with the active flag.

2022/2023 School Year - Time for Active School Flag Renewal in St Anne’s!

We got our first Active Schools Flag in 2019 and now it is time to start working on the renewal of the Active Schools Flag

Our new active school committee is busy planning lots of ways to keep the pupils and staff healthy.

  • We are in our third week of the Active Movement Break Challenge. Each class had at least one additional movement break per day and we encourage movement breaks between lessons to reduce sedentary time.
  • The children have Active homework on P.E days and we encourage 60 minutes of exercise every day.

The 2022/2023 Committee includes pupil representatives from the Senior end of the school 3rd -6th Class. Leon, Lily, Alex Mae, Andrew, Chloe, Aodhan, Darragh, Elizabeth, Rory and Hana

Our sixth Class are participating as playground leaders in the Junior yard twice a week where they show the children how to take part in playground games .

Active HOME Week

(April 27th – May 3rd)

National ‘Active SCHOOL Week’ takes place every April and is a really enjoyable part of the school year for many children.

This year, because of COVID-19, it is not possible for this to go ahead so we are asking you to participate in the ‘Active HOME Weekchallenge instead.

We will be posting photos throughout the week of all the children getting out and getting active at home.

You can also see more of what we got up too on our twitter page. Link at the top of the screen.

Day 5 01/05/2020

Happy May Day Everyone!laughing Last day of 'Active Home Week' today and what a week it has been. Thankfully the weather stayed on our side for the most part so we could all get outside and do our 60 minutes. The 'Daily Mile' was also a big feature this week and it was great to see all of you getting involved. Keep it up!

Day 4 30/04/2020

We are having such a fun week getting Active this week and we are so lucky to have such a big forest in the local area that we can get out and run around whilst still practicing social distancing. Keeping the mind Active during this time is very important too and a good way of doing this is by playing board games.
