Welcome

We take this opportunity to welcome all our young students back to St. Anne’s NS and to their new classes for the school year ahead. Especially we welcome our new pupils and Junior Infants. They are settling in to their new classes very well.

The children look so rested and healthy and we wish to thank you for having them so well prepared for their return to school with uniform and books. We look forward to working with you in the year ahead.

We are delighted to see our caretaker, Charlie, back on his feet after his recent illness.

Deirdre McCormack

As a school community we will be sad to see our secretary, Deirdre parting our school later this September. A past pupil of St. Anne’s, Deirdre has been our hard working, efficient secretary and first point of contact for St. Anne’s for many years. Her patience, kindness and friendliness shines brightly in her tiny office. She has a special place in her heart for children and it’s many a grazed knee she cleaned, tear she wiped and smile she restored! Deirdre inspired us all and we wish her and her family well in the coming years.

Book Rental

Thanks are due to Mrs. McCabe and her helpers for their hard work in organising our Book Rental Scheme and preparing books for children for the beginning of term.

Morning opening.

The school gate is opened each morning at 9. The children assemble in the yard and they begin the school day at 9:10. These arrangements were made in consultation with our school insurers, in consideration of child protection procedures and agreed by the school community. Critically, children who arrive early are not insured under school insurance until 9 o clock.

Allianz Insurance offers a 24 hour Personal Accident Insurance policy for children, details of which are sent to families each year.

Summer activity

The Board of Management had the exterior of the school painted in July/ early August. Plans for the installation of an all - weather play surface and the completion of the landscaping around the extension were delayed due to poor weather in August. We hope this work will take place in the near future.

Parking

Please use the school car-park area when dropping children off and collecting them from school. Naturally we ask you to follow the traffic flow arrows and to be especially vigilant at opening and closing times as small children may be in the car-park.

Tandragee is a narrow residential cul de sac and should not be used for school traffic.

Staff changes

We are getting used to the recent retirements of Mrs. Carolan and Mrs. Gavin and to Ms. Conlan’s leave. We welcome Ms. Fox, Ms. Fannin, Ms. Martin and Ms. McKenna to St. Anne’s and also to Ms. McIntyre and Ms. Dolan who join us for the coming year.

We also welcome Fr. Ultan McGoohan to Bailieborough and wish him success in his role as Parish Priest. Likewise we wish Bishop Router every success in his new position as auxiliary Bishop of Armagh.

St. Anne’s NS Book

Some members of the school community are preparing a book, looking back at St. Anne’s NS over the last number of decades. We still welcome material, especially photographs and information about photographs. Photos can be scanned in school and returned to you promptly.
