Retirement of Mrs. O Sullivan

‘Happy to Meet… Sorry to Part’ was the title of a popular album back in the 70’s. For our part, the
arrival of Mrs O’ Sullivan in St. Anne’s NS in 1989 was a “happy meeting” and her retirement at the
end of this term is a certainly a “sorrowful parting”.

Mrs. O'Sullivan was dedicated to her new school and her new parish from the start. A gifted teacher,
she taught in the areas of Special Education Needs, Mainstream and Learning Support in St. Anne’s
NS. Her work in special educational needs was hugely successful while she imparted her love for
learning and music to her students. She was before her time in advocating wellbeing and promoting
wellness throughout the school. When music was heard through the corridors, Mrs. O’Sullivan was
often the source and hearing her play her harp was a special treat.

Mrs. O'Sullivan is very generous with her talents and time. Both Mrs. O’Sullivan and Mrs. McCabe
have prepared the First Holy Communion, Confirmation and Christmas Masses in Bailieborough for
over thirty years. These dynamic teachers have prepared our school assemblies, musicals, choirs and
school celebrations for more than three decades.

Mrs. O'Sullivan’s instinct is to do what is needed and what is right. She is an active community
person. She volunteers in many of the sports clubs in the parish, especially Bailieborough Shamrocks,
schools and fundraising groups including the wonderful “Hard Times Chorus”.

Following a career in which she displayed every attribute of an outstanding teacher and person, we
offer our colleague Orla our gratitude and wish her a very happy retirement.
