The St. Anne’s N.S. Halloween Fun Run will take place on this Sunday 20th October at St. Anne’s. Registration will open at 11 o’ clock and the Fun Run will begin at 12 middday. This year we have some wonderful spot prizes, generously sponsored by parents and organised by the St. Anne’s N.S. Parents Association. These include:

  • Family ticket for Causey Farm,
  • 2 tickets for Kingscourt Play Centre,
  • Family Pass for Bailieborough Swimming Pool,
  • Colouring Books and Markers,
  • Jig Saws,
  • Playdough,
  • Kids’ Character Balloons,
  • Footballs
  • Board Games.

This year, money raised by the Fun Run will be spent on Chrome Books, (classroom computers) for the children. Naturally, we are all greatly excited about this investment in IT. Please support us on Sunday.

We wish to thank Tony Gregory and his running group, Mags Gregory, the many volunteers and St. Anne’s N.S. Parents Association for their help in organising this event.

Cavan Schools Cross Country

The Cavan Schools’ Cross Country Running event took place in Killinkere on Wednesday16th October. We wish to compliment all the children who took part in this event and to say we are very proud of them all. With well over a hundred children in each event, it makes for a wonderful occasion. It puts the excellent performances of St. Anne’s runners into context. Well done to all who trained and took part. Congratulations to our senior boys’ and intermediate girls’ teams and to Jonathan Donohoe in 6th class who medalled.

Active Schools’ Flag Project.

‘Music Friday’ has begun again and the children are enjoying the music in the yard during their lunch break. We have been listening to the responses from the children and the refreshed ‘Active Yard’ will be launched on Tuesday next, 22nd October 2019. The classes have been busy with running initiatives and most classes are working on the athletics strand in PE, while others are completing Aquatics.

Official Opening of New Extension

The Opening of our School Extension will take place on 25th October 2019, the day of the Halloween break. Minister Heather Humphreys will officiate at the ceremony and Fr. Ultan will bless the new building.

Halloween

St. Anne’s N.S. will close for the Halloween break on Friday October 25th 2019 and reopen on Monday, November 4th 2019.

At this time of year the children are excited about the fun events and activities surrounding Halloween. Please remind them to be careful of the dangers that can surround Halloween and how necessary it is to be mindful of older and more vulnerable people at this time.

Halloween Raffle

We wish to thank Mags Gregory for assembling a Halloween Hamper and donating it to the school as the main prize for our Halloween Raffle. Tickets are on sale in school for €2 euros each or 3 for €5and the raffle will take place in school on Friday 25th October.

St. Anne’s N.S. Parents’ Association

St. Anne’s N.S. Parents’ Association is organising a School Disco for the children on Friday 1st 2019 November and money raised will go towards the Defibrillator.

Cumann na mBunscol

At this time of year our boys’ football team and our camogie team are training hard for their Cumann na mBunscol competitions. We wish them luck and express our thanks to their coaches.

Healthy Eating

It is part of our role to promote healthy eating and we take it very seriously. We are delighted with the healthy lunches the children bring to school every day. Typically the children’s lunches consist of sandwiches, fruit, yogurt and water. Naturally, all children should have a good breakfast before school and a nutritious lunch to enable them to take a full and active part in school each day. Processed foods, high in sugar and salt are discouraged.

School Book

We still welcome material relating to St. Anne’s N.S., especially photographs and information about photographs. We want to publish a book which will take a look back on St. Anne’s N.S. over the years. Photos can be scanned in school and returned to you promptly.

School Closure

We have been given notice of an In-service Day in the Primary Language Curriculum for the teachers in St. Anne’s N.S. It will take place on December 11th. Consequently the school will be closed on that day.
